Brokedown Cafe'

It’s a holy land for lost souls; it’s a safe haven for lies told;
it’s a place people go when they can’t go home anymore.
It’s warm bodies and cold beer; it’s loud music and quiet tears;
it’s nobody asking why you’re there all alone.

Cuz at the Brokedown Café, they’re open all night and day,
and the jukebox just plays Waylon and Merle.
You can drink, and you can cry,
wondering when love left, and why.
Oh, you’ve always got a soft place to lay
at the Brokedown Café.

Audrey’s 42, but says she’s 30; she’s shooting whiskey, and talking dirty;
she was married once, but she swears she’ll never do that again.
Someone sits down beside her; looking lonely and tired;
and Audrey thinks, “Well, you know … he could be just what I need.”

And at the Brokedown Café, they’re open all night and day,
and the jukebox just plays Waylon and Merle.
You can drink, and you can cry,
wondering when love left, and why.
Oh, you’ve always got a soft place to lay
at the Brokedown Café.

Sit and order a beer, and maybe while you are here,
you can find someone to take that sharp edge off of lonesome …

And at the Brokedown Café, they’re open all night and day,
and the jukebox just plays Waylon and Merle.
You can drink, and you can cry,
wondering when love left, and why.
Oh, you’ve always got a soft place to lay
at the Brokedown Café.
